Scot Phelps went to high school in Mexico, NY, which is where he gained his passion for music. His band teacher there inspired him to go into music as a career. He graduated in 1997 and spent 2 years at Onondaga Community College in Syracuse, NY getting his basic music and general education classes finished. In 1999 he transferred to the Crane School of Music in Potsdam, NY, where he learned all of the instruments and took his conducting and education classes. He graduated in December 2001 and got a long-term substitute job in Beaver Falls, NY. That assignment opened the door to his first teaching job in the South Lewis School District in Turin, NY. He spent one year there before getting married in 2003 and getting a job teaching elementary band in Albany. He now lives in Scotia, NY with his wife Megan and 2-year old daughter Hayden.
Scot holds a Masters Degree from the University of New England and a Permanent New York State Public School Teacher Certificate in Music.
